Crafting Immersive Experiences: A Journey from Childhood Dreams to Professional Mastery
My journey in design began with childhood disco parties, where the magic of a 90s Cher song and a dancing disco ball transformed my living room into a different world. This sparked my fascination with creating immersive experiences for others.
After high school, I initially ventured into the IT world following my father's footsteps. However, I found my true calling in web design during internships. Enrolling in the 'Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht,' I explored Allround Desktop Publishing, learning the intricacies of animation, print media, and the art of crafting real-life and digital experiences. This education unveiled the designer's power in shaping perceptions within set parameters.
Early professional life
My professional journey led me to a role as a marketing and communication specialist, where I played a pivotal role in creating an informative website for Glaswand.nl. Embracing freelancing, I cherished the freedom it offered, primarily working on WordPress websites.
A standout freelancing project involved collaborating on an animated storytelling initiative for OCA, portraying patients' recovery journeys. This unexpected passion prompted me to return to school at 28.
University: changing life experience
My time at HKU - University was transformative, providing in-depth insights into user-centric design. Subjects like robotics, gamification, and the organization of Drop the Milk, a festival bringing modern art to life in Utrecht, broadened my design horizons.

After my university I continued my professional career at multiple design agency's. Creating and designing online experiences that work well with brands. What I especially loved to work on was teaching and organising workshops together with clients. From my experience as a freelancer, I made use of a toolkit "Brand Thinking Canvas" that I used to deepen my understanding of the product. Ensuring a smooth process in crafting a tailored made experience.
